April 2004 – Main

Some expressions are as the waves of the sun in that when encountered by others
can evoke feelings of excitement, curiosity and comfort. Honest expressions in
the forms of art, prose and music communicate our natures, emotions and desires.
The heart of expression is to make the journey from the boundless seas of the
mind to the certain recognition of reality. At times, it is as if our thoughts,
seek to find a measure of undiminished existence through the means in which they
can be durably represented.

From the Seven Wonders of the World to the works of the Renaissance or the
artifacts of laypersons past to present, the thoughts have endured though the
identity of the creators may have been forgotten. Today, we are much more
fortunate with technologies such as the internet that allow expressions to have
greater reach and pervasiveness. Services like the “WayBack Machine” at
archive.org further enhance this condition. The curators of that site has
technology to store snapshots of millions of websites and is rumored to contain
more data that the Library of Congress. Therefore, though domain name
registrations may expire and sites may become inaccessible to the network, their
presence will be preserved in some form somewhere.

While the expressions contained here are far less marvelous than those of
antiquity are, they are important in that a result of expression is a
fulfillment of awareness that contributes to wholeness. As implicated in Abraham
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, fully becoming who we seek to be is an ultimate
goal. While this emphasis on the primary value of the conscious may suffer from
a more singular focus based in science, it does come nearer the mark as it
relates to the motivations of temporal existence.
